Publish an Actor
Push source, create a Store listing, set price and trial, configure passes, and complete Stripe Connect.
1. Push your Actor
npm install -g @bytewells/cli
bw login --url https://bytewells.com/api
bw pushOr import Actors you already publish on Apify:
- Console — Continue with Apify on login, or Settings → Connect Apify, then pick Actors on Actors → New. See Import from Apify.
- CLI —
bw import apify <actorIdOrName>with an Apify API token.
Both copy source, README, input schema and rental price into a draft listing.
2. Create or edit the listing
In the console: Publish → List an Actor, or use the API (POST /v2/me/listings).
Paid listings use pricingModel: FLAT_PRICE_PER_MONTH with:
monthlyPriceCents— monthly rentaltrialDays— 0–30, developer-set free trial (becomes Stripetrial_period_days)- Optional pass tiers: Flash (1 h), Burst (24 h), Sprint (7 d) — see Passes
Free listings (FREE) need no payout setup; customers pay only compute.
Choose your payout country when you create the first paid listing (PUT /v2/me/payout-country). Paid listings are available for developers in supported payout countries (see below); other countries can publish free listings only for now.
3. Get paid: verify with Stripe
You can publish a paid listing and start earning before you verify with Stripe. Earnings accrue in your balance; you need a verified Stripe Connect account (Accounts v2 recipient) to receive the money:
- First earning — we prompt you to verify.
- $25 balance — reminder.
- $50 balance — verification required for the payout. If a balance of $50 or more stays unverified for 90 days, new sales on your listings pause until you finish.
curl -X POST -H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"country":"DE"}' \
https://bytewells.com/api/v2/billing/connect/onboardComplete the hosted onboarding URL. Rent/pass purchases against a publisher who has been unpayable for over 90 days return 409 publisher-not-payable.
Supported payout countries: the EU, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and the UK. Your payout country is fixed once your Stripe account exists.
4. Publish
bw publish <actor>
# or POST /v2/me/listings/{id}/publishEarnings and payouts
- Rentals and passes are charged on the Bytewells platform account and recorded in your earnings ledger.
- Net per sale = charge − Bytewells commission − Stripe card processing − Stripe Billing fee (rentals). Commission is 10%, or 0% if the renter used your referral. Stripe's variable fees are passed through at cost with no markup; Bytewells pays the fixed Connect account and payout fees. A typical $17.50 rental nets about 85%.
- Each earning is held for 14 days (refund and dispute window), then becomes payable.
- Payouts are monthly, in one Stripe transfer, once your payable balance reaches $50. Smaller balances roll over.
- Refunds and disputes reverse the matching earning. Money already paid out is netted from your next payout; a dispute freezes the earning until it closes.
- The $5 sign-up credit pays for compute only; it cannot buy passes, so it never produces earnings.
Track renters and payouts under Publish → Customers / Earnings / Payouts.
