Terms of Service

Effective date: 29 September 2026

Bytewells at https://bytewells.com/ is operated by Scalipto Ltd, a Bulgarian limited liability company. These terms cover the website, the Store, the console, the API, and the bw command-line tool.

By using any of them you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.

The service

Bytewells is a marketplace for web data Actors. Developers publish Actors. Customers rent an Actor by the month, or buy a short pass where the developer offers one, and pay separately for the compute those runs use. There is no platform subscription and no per-row charge.

The Store opens in a private beta. Joining the developer waitlist does not reserve a listing date or a price.

The service is offered for business use. If you use it as a consumer, mandatory rights under Bulgarian and EU law still apply, including any withdrawal right the law gives you. Starting a paid rental, or spending credit, is a request to begin the service.

Accounts

You need an account to rent, run, or publish. Keep your password and API tokens to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account, including runs started with your token and purchases made with auto-buy turned on.

Rentals

A rental is a monthly subscription at the price the developer set for that Actor. The developer sets the free trial, from none up to 30 days. The default is 3 days. Each account gets one trial of a given Actor. When a trial does not require a card and you do not add a payment method before it ends, the rental ends with the trial.

You can cancel a rental at any time. Cancellation stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period already paid for. Cancelling does not refund unused days in that period.

A later price change applies to new rentals. A rental you already have keeps the price and commission rate it started with.

Passes

Where a developer prices them, you can buy a Flash (1 hour), Burst (24 hours), or Sprint (7 days) pass. Pay-per-use charges in a window stop at the next tier's price, up to the monthly price. The window starts at the first charge. Passes are paid from prepaid credit. Passes have no free trial.

If you turn on auto-buy, a run that needs access can buy the pass it needs from your credit, up to that cap. A token scoped to a single run cannot buy a pass.

Compute

Runs draw on prepaid credit, billed apart from the rental or pass. The price is $0.15 per compute unit. One compute unit is 1 GB of memory for one hour, measured per second, with a minimum of 60 seconds. A run needs a credit balance above zero.

New accounts receive $5 of credit. That credit has no cash value, we do not refund it, and it pays for compute only, not for passes.

Credit you buy pays for compute and, when you use them, for passes. We refund a payment when the charge was a mistake on our side, or when the law requires a refund. Used compute and pass charges are otherwise final.

Developers

Publishing is optional. You can keep the same Actor on Apify or anywhere else. Bytewells does not ask for exclusivity.

You set the monthly price, the trial length, and any pass prices. Bytewells keeps 10% of each rental and pass charge, and 0% on customers you refer. Stripe's card and billing costs on the charge are passed on to you at cost, with no markup, and the rest is yours. Compute charges pay for the runtime and are not split with you.

Your earnings accrue as you sell and become payable 14 days after each payment. We pay them out once a month through Stripe when your payable balance reaches $50; smaller balances roll over. You can publish a paid listing before you verify with Stripe, but you must complete the identity and bank checks Stripe asks for to receive a payout. Payouts are available for accounts in the European Union, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom; paid listings are not available elsewhere yet. If a balance of $50 or more stays unpaid for 90 days because Stripe verification is incomplete, new rentals and pass sales on your Actors pause until you finish it. Rentals and passes already paid for keep running. Refunds and lost disputes on a sale are deducted from your earnings.

You keep ownership of your source. You grant Scalipto Ltd a license to build it, store the build, and run it for customers who are entitled to that Actor. Customers run the built image. We do not hand them your source.

You are responsible for the Actor: that you have the right to publish it, that the listing matches what it does, and that it is not malware and does not steal credentials. You support your renters. A customer can choose, at checkout, to share their name and email with you.

Acceptable use

Do not use Bytewells to break the law, to attack the platform, or to get around billing. Do not publish malware, or an Actor built to break into systems you are not allowed to access. You are responsible for the laws that apply to your runs, including privacy and intellectual property rules, and for the sites your Actor accesses.

Do not overload the platform, probe it without permission, or share an account so someone else can avoid paying.

Actors come from developers

An Actor's results, uptime, and support come from the developer who published it. Scalipto Ltd operates the marketplace and the runtime. A particular Actor is not guaranteed to return particular data.

Pointing an Apify client at Bytewells keeps the calls we implement working: Actors and runs, datasets, key-value stores, request queues, schedules, and webhooks.

Availability

During the beta the service can change, and runs can fail. We do not promise uninterrupted uptime. If a charge is wrong, use the contact form and we will correct it.

Suspension

We can suspend an account or a listing that breaks these terms, creates a security risk, or does not pay. We will tell you when we can do that without making the risk worse. You can stop using Bytewells at any time. Closing an account does not cancel charges already incurred.

Liability

The platform is provided as available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost data, or other indirect damage, and our liability for a claim is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim.

These limits do not apply where Bulgarian law does not allow a limit, including liability for intent, or to a consumer right that cannot be waived.

Prices

Prices are in US dollars. Scalipto Ltd is not registered for VAT. If we are later required to collect a tax, it can be added to the amount you pay.

Changes

If these terms change, the effective date at the top of this page changes with them. Continuing to use Bytewells after that date means the new terms apply. If a change affects a rental you are already paying for, we will email the address on the account before it takes effect.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Bulgaria. Disputes go to the courts of Sofia, except where a mandatory consumer rule gives you another court.
